In the 36thth minute of the game Dionisio Figueres who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Costa Rica's Benito Sanz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 40 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Nereo santillana came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 42 minutes, Benito Sanz successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Axel Tasis to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Axel Tasis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Máximo Maestro was relentless in the 54th minute of the game. Nereo santillana sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dionisio Figueres went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score.
