Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Daniel Zorita in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stojko Živko prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Tonko Grković sent off a good shot on target. Luis Andino received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Stojko Živko tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stojko Živko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 13th minute. A nice corner shot did that Felix Montes got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Stojko Živko quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Stojko Živko showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. Ivan Vladović kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Neno Perazić kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. With a little luck, Ecuador's Julio Vera got control of the ball when Tonko Grković tried to sneak it across the goal line. Felix Montenegro scored 0-1 in the 38th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Stojko Živko, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of Maksimir booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Stojko Živko prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

Aljoša Koloper kicked well hit freekick during the 57th minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergej Knez in the 59th minute of play. In the 60th minute, Neno Perazić hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a little luck, Maksimir's Stojko Živko got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match had gone on for 63 minutes, Cristian Sancho took a quick shot and it went in 0-3 without a chance for Stojko Živko to make any attempt to save it. A collision led to Maksimir getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Ruđer Škegro hit a great ball. In the 70th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 72 minutes into the match, Maksimir's goalkeeper Stojko Živko had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cristian Sancho. In the 75th minute the ball was on its way in behind Maksimir's goalkeeper Stojko Živko, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Aljoša Koloper hit a great freekick 75 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 78th minute of play forced Maksimir's goalkeeper Stojko Živko to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maksimir's Stojko Živko proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Maksimir from getting a goal against them. Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 87th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. A sloppy throw-in by Camilo Gisbert in the 89th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Maksimir's Adolf Tarbuk. Stojko Živko didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Daniel Zorita went, in the 92nd minute, to the upper right corner, 0-4 was the resulting score. Ecuador played a much better game than Maksimir and deserved their victory. The Maksimir players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
