Julian Murillo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Apolo Santxol read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. 9 minutes into the game, Peru's Julian Murillo nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marin Jumancă received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 22nd minute. Rolando Noboa tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Everardo Presebal sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Peru's Eliseo Mina got a good chance for a goal in the 39th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Everardo Presebal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Marin Jumancă was the one to do the kick off. Lucjan Kendra made in the 56th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Marin Jumancă immediately put the ball in play. A hard shot 61 in the game by Julian Murillo from a close distance when the talented Apolo Santxol managed to make a qualified save. Huckebein's players were relieved. Huckebein made a substitution. Leonardo Seco replaced Eriberto Terra. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wolfgang Dalkvist in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wolfgang Dalkvist in the 73rd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute Huckebein were awarded a corner. Wilfredo Ugutz went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner ended in Wilfredo Ugutz almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Peru's Rolando Noboa did a great save. Julian Murillo struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Wolfgang Dalkvist, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Wolfgang Dalkvist in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rolando Noboa saved Peru from getting behind. Apolo Santxol made an important save on a dangerous shot by Rafael Gallo in the 97th minute. Apolo Santxol showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rafael Gallo in the 99th minute of the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Peru walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
