The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Hong Jian Fan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. Atlético-PR's Oswaldo Paraíba proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 84th minute of the match, managed to save Atlético-PR from getting a goal against them. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but Atlético-PR were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
