Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. 9 minutes into the match, FK Željezničar's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Grigoris Koufakis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nelson Mandela's shot from short distance in the 11th minute. In the 15th minute, Nelson Mandela made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 19th minute, when Patricio Maquibar sent off a good shot on target. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Grigoris Koufakis having to interfere. In the 30th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Grigoris Koufakis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 36th play minute Nikola Bogdanović came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Julio Vera. 2-0. When FK Željezničar's Nelson Mandela in the 46th minute got a chance for a shot 46th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

A nice corner shot did that Ibrahim Veizović got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Nelson Mandela received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Grigoris Koufakis made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of FK Željezničar booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 63 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristian Sancho didn't get a good kick on the ball. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nelson Mandela, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. FK Željezničar made a substitution. Stevan Žižović replaced Ibrahim Veizović. Nikola Bogdanović scored 3-0 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nelson Mandela in the 83rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 88th minute of play forced FK Željezničar's goalkeeper Grigoris Koufakis to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 92 minutes into the match, FK Željezničar's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Grigoris Koufakis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 93rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Grigoris Koufakis could save by the left post. FK Željezničar made a substitution. Adi Jusufović replaced Nelson Mandela. The FK Željezničar players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
