Club Brugge's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 21st minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stein Spoelberch saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 23rd minute, King Eken made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. Stein Spoelberch made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 26th minute of play. In the 41st minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Club Brugge's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Luis Andino almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Club Brugge's Stein Spoelberch did a great save. King Eken's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 42ndth minute, Julio Vera skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when 孔磊傲 stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a defensive mix-up in Club Brugge's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Stein Spoelberch came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Stein Spoelberch tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Stein Spoelberch in the 55th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 56 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when 孔磊傲 came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felix Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 61st minute 孔磊傲 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Club Brugge's Stein Spoelberch got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Stein Spoelberch came out and tried to block the shot, but Daniel Zorita slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 62nd minute. 65 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Stein Spoelberch narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Despite being the better team, Ecuador failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
