A well-hit corner resulted in Felix Montes heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Inter de Chillán was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 45 match minutes in a wonderful position. Paulo Brotfeld didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 0-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Daniel Zorita was the one to do the kick off. Basilio Dragicevic was out of position in the 51 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felix Montenegro got free with Basilio Dragicevic in the 58th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 58th minute, Felix Montenegro reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Basilio Dragicevic. The goal made the score 0-5. Daniel Zorita succeeded in the game's 62nd minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 0-6. In the 93rd minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Basilio Dragicevic saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Andino's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Basilio Dragicevic read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play.
