Godfredo Fero started the match with the kick off. Godfredo Fero charged in rather forcefully in the 4th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Godfredo Fero the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 4th match minute, Patricio Rey Futbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Godfredo Fero to maneuver through the defense. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's defense didn't have a chance, in the 6th minute, when Moisés Arruda scored to the left of an out of position Benigno Cordeara, making the score, 1-0. 9 minutes into the game, Moisés Arruda was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ique Football Club's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Patricio Rey Futbol Club the free kick. In the 11th minute of the game Armandinho de Barros made a throw-in which Aimar Aimar played forward. 13 minutes into the match, Patricio Rey Futbol Club's goalkeeper Benigno Cordeara had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Aimar Aimar. After a rather tough play, Patricio Rey Futbol Club's Joaquin Geofredo got a free kick in the 14th minute. Ique Football Club were awarded a corner in the 17th minute after Patricio Rey Futbol Club's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Samuca Leal took the corner. Ique Football Club's Samuca Leal was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Benigno Cordeara in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In the 21st match minute, Patricio Rey Futbol Club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Carlos Salvino to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 21 minutes, Samuca Leal managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ique Football Club's supporters crossed their fingers, but Samuca Leal was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Moisés Arruda got his second yellow card in the match during the 23rd minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of Patricio Rey Futbol Club booed when Ique Football Club was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moisés Arruda didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aimar Aimar received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 26th minute. Benigno Cordeara tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 32 minutes into the match, Ique Football Club's goal looked a bit too open when Godfredo Fero came free, but João Francisco Leme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 34th minute Godfredo Fero shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but João Francisco Leme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Benigno Cordeara made an important save on a dangerous shot by Aimar Aimar in the 43rd minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aimar Aimar to make the kick off. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's Benigno Cordeara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aimar Aimar in the 52nd minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aimar Aimar in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benigno Cordeara saved Patricio Rey Futbol Club from getting behind. After 64 played minutes Patricio Rey Futbol Club got a freekick which was hit by Teofilo Hustaz. In the 65th minute of the match Armandinho de Barros sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benigno Cordeara skillfully saved the ball. João Francisco Leme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Godfredo Fero, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Samuca Leal hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Ique Football Club's João Francisco Leme got control of the ball when Godfredo Fero tried to sneak it across the goal line. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's Benigno Cordeara played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aimar Aimar in the 94th minute of play. Aimar Aimar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Patricio Rey Futbol Club's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
