In the 26th minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Evaristo Pena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomas Illescas blasted a shot towards the goal in the 28th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Evaristo Pena having to make a save. A collision led to Boca Juniors getting a freekick after 34 minutes play. Jorge Harriet hit a great ball. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Boca Juniors was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 43 match minutes in a wonderful position. Severiano Mann didn't get a good kick on the ball. A throw-in in the 45th minute of the game was made by Mitch Meersmans with Simon Salbatore as target, who quickly passed the ball forward.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Simon Salbatore was the one to do the kick off. In the 51st minute, Simon Salbatore left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Boca Juniors fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tomas Illescas got free with Evaristo Pena in the 59th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Evaristo Pena didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Venezuela's Tomas Illescas shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 1-2 in the ordered_time% minute. In the 83rd minute, Severiano Mann hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Evaristo Pena didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Illescas went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-4 was the resulting score. If Patricio Costa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The Venezuela supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Venezuela would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
