Spectators: 42 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Severo Laurentzi started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. When J.C. Smith came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the West Ham fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that J.C. Smith couldn't finish the play. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Severo Laurentzi went, in the 11th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. Benito Sanz was a little too slow when J.C. Smith got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 15th minute. The score was now 2-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by J.C. Smith in the 18th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 18 minutes of play, West Ham's J.C. Smith made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Benito Sanz was left in no man's land by his defense there! Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 22nd minute, when Severo Laurentzi sent off a good shot on target. In the 27th match minute, Costa Rica was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juan Rubio to maneuver through the defense. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alan Moruga during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Alan Moruga got a free kick in the 35th minute. Benito Sanz was out of position in the 36 minute of play, and J.C. Smith capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. J.C. Smith really showed his touch with that goal: 5-0. In the 45th minute, J.C. Smith got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 5-0 at half-time.

Benito Sanz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Laurentius Mändli in the 62nd minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, J.C. Smith notched a goal, 7-0, to the right of Costa Rica's Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 78th minute Severo Laurentzi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. J.C. Smith received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 83 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Moruga. West Ham's J.C. Smith got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 93 minutes into the game, J.C. Smith cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 8-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. West Ham walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
