Catarinense F.C.'s José Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 21st minute of play. Thiago Pliego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gernando Cordeiro in the 25th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Gernando Cordeiro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Thiago Pliego was relentless in the 27th minute of the game. Catarinense F.C.'s attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jorge Ler in the 45th minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Lucas Papacharalabous heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gernando Cordeiro to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Orlando Casaus suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 52 minutes into the game, Victor Kauldi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Catarinense F.C.'s manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Chile the free kick. A collision led to Catarinense F.C. getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Victor Kauldi hit a great ball. Mariano Lacasa's shot from long distance was a real pearl which went to the right and just passed José Chilavert - 1-1 was put on the score board in the 55th minute. Mariano Lacasa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without José Chilavert having to make a save. Thiago Pliego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lucas Papacharalabous in the 66th minute of play. Catarinense F.C.'s José Chilavert played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mariano Lacasa in the 67th minute of play. José Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 67th minute. Zhu Chao Guang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Thiago Pliego having to interfere. With a little luck, Catarinense F.C.'s José Chilavert got control of the ball when Mariano Lacasa tried to sneak it across the goal line. José Chilavert showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mariano Lacasa, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. After 86 minutes, Guillermo Fontirroig mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Chile and the Catarinense F.C. players grew even worse after the yellow card. Thanks to some nice moves Mariano Lacasa could shoot a difficult shot in the 92nd minute, which José Chilavert however easily saved by the left post. In the 94th minute, Chile's Domingo Mancebo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-2. When the final whistle sounded Chile left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Catarinense F.C..
