Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) 12 minutes into the game, Edu Cavalcante was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Du Esporte Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Venezuela the free kick. In the 12th minute, Edu Cavalcante hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 15 minutes of play Du Esporte Clube's Edu Cavalcante was too eager in his attempt to stop his opponent and brought him down. With that he got his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Markus Pflüger having to interfere. If Arnaldo Lizer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 21st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by 雷钢青 in the 26th minute. When Arnaldo Lizer in the 32nd play minute got the chance to kick a hard shot on goal from short distance neither the defense or Jonathan Ferrant kept up with the ball and suddenly the score was 1-0 when the ball slipped into goal inside the left pole. Venezuela's attentive Salvador Gisbert managed to snatch the ball when Paulo-Eduardo do Nascimento made a throw-in in the 36th minute of the game. In the 37th minute, Arnaldo Lizer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Markus Pflüger tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 42 minutes into the match, Arnaldo Lizer notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. 45 minutes into the match, Du Esporte Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Tomas Illescas came free, but Markus Pflüger reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Markus Pflüger having to interfere. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Patricio Costa struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Markus Pflüger didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Venezuela. If Arnaldo Lizer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Patricio Costa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Du Esporte Clube booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 70th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Tomas Illescas to maneuver through the defense. After 76 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. After 77 played minutes, Du Esporte Clube's Rodolfo Castro shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Du Esporte Clube reached it. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sílvio Costa in the 80th minute of the match. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Rigoberto Mina hit a great ball. Markus Pflüger showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Patricio Costa, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. After having played for 92 minutes, Sílvio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Du Esporte Clube's supporters crossed their fingers, but Sílvio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
