Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Laurențiu Cinteză in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Volker Harm made a fantastic save in the 83rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Thoralf Blohm in the 84th minute of play. In the 85th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. FC Hamburg's Richard Otte was substituted for Pompiliu Roşculeţ. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Primitivo Andino got a free kick in the 86th minute. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Richard Otte in the 87th minute of the match. After having played for 93 minutes, Laurențiu Cinteză managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FC Hamburg's supporters crossed their fingers, but Laurențiu Cinteză was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the referee blew the final whistle, FC Hamburg could leave the field as winners, despite Ecuador having more of the ball for most of the match.
