After 7 played minutes C.A.RIVER PLATE got a freekick which was hit by Higinio Rayman. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Alberto Tafalla hit a great ball. The supporters of C.A.RIVER PLATE booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Luque didn't get a good kick on the ball. C.A.RIVER PLATE's Fabrizio Masci played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Joel Gaona in the 14th minute of play. Fabrizio Masci showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 18th minute. Dante Lacasa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Crispin Stichler in the 21st minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergio Sasoin in the 25th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 30 minutes into the match, C.A.RIVER PLATE's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Mancebo came free, but Fabrizio Masci reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Joel Gaona struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Fabrizio Masci didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. But to his dismay, Lautaro Mancebo quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. After a rather tough play, C.A.RIVER PLATE's Aristides Emesto got a free kick in the 42nd minute. When Alberto Tafalla came up free with the goalie in the 44th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Tafalla couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Crispin Stichler in the 46th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Dante Lacasa prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-1 lead.

If Nuno Carmo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sergio Sasoin in the 56th minute of play. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sergio Sasoin in the 58th minute of the match. Luca Rouco kicked well hit freekick during the 58th minute of the match. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nuno Carmo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Crispin Stichler in the 81st minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sergio Sasoin in the 83rd minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 88th minute of the match, Lautaro Mancebo got a very nice opportunity to score, but Fabrizio Masci was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Crispin Stichler in the 92nd minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Mancebo was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabrizio Masci breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After 95 played minutes C.A.RIVER PLATE got a freekick which was hit by Dick Sundberg. The C.A.RIVER PLATE fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Mexico were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
