In the 17th minute, Olimpiu Dragnea got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cacá Mangione in the 19th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gert Altorn prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Hønning's Gert Altorn played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dom Rusby in the 21st minute of play. Gert Altorn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cacá Mangione, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Cacá Mangione took the ball and in the 26 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gert Altorn. Gert Altorn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Per Nørbjerg's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. After some careless play in the Hønning defense, Olimpiu Dragnea kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gert Altorn. The Hønning fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gert Altorn should have stopped the shot. A collision led to Goo Goo Dolls getting a freekick after 44 minutes play. Fábio Quintal hit a great ball. Cacá Mangione spun around in front of the goal 47 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Hønning's goal. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

After a defensive mix-up in Hønning's zone, Felix Lane stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Gert Altorn came out of the goal and Felix Lane tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Goo Goo Dolls's Kenny Anson was substituted for Dom Rusby. When Goo Goo Dolls's Cacá Mangione in the 59th minute got a chance for a shot 59th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Hønning's goalie prevented a goal. Benjamin Cuss showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from John-Arne Riise, who was totally free with the ball in the 60th minute. Gert Altorn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cacá Mangione in the 63rd minute of play. The supporters of Goo Goo Dolls booed when Hønning was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Per Nørbjerg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gert Altorn took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Matteo Gillis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Per Nørbjerg in the 73rd minute of play forced Goo Goo Dolls's goalkeeper Benjamin Cuss to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Benjamin Cuss showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Per Nørbjerg in the 77th minute of the match. Per Nørbjerg recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gert Altorn made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Olimpiu Dragnea sent off a good shot on target. The audience was convinced that Cacá Mangione's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Gert Altorn was relentless in the 89th minute of the game. Goo Goo Dolls's Benjamin Cuss played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by John-Arne Riise in the 95th minute of play. In the 97th minute of the match Olimpiu Dragnea sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Gert Altorn skillfully saved the ball. Goo Goo Dolls's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
