Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 11th minute after Portuguesa's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. In the 13th minute of the match, Holger Zachrisson tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The audience thought a goal was coming when 任浩默 got free with Julio Vera in the 17th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Holger Zachrisson in the 19th minute of play. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jorginho Vaz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cristian Sancho in the 25th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jorginho Vaz prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Jorginho Vaz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 33rd minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jorginho Vaz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Portuguesa's Jorginho Vaz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 35th minute of play. In the 36th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jorginho Vaz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when 任浩默 got free with Julio Vera in the 41st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jorginho Vaz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 44th minute of the match. After 48 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jorginho Vaz was left in no man's land by his defense there!

Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. 任浩默 ran back to his position shaking his head. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 65th minute of the match, but Jorginho Vaz made a huge save. With 71 minutes on the clock, Felix Montes commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. 70 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Ecuador:s Julio Vera showed great skill when he stopped Holger Zachrisson:s penalty. After having played for 76 minutes, Holger Zachrisson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Portuguesa's supporters crossed their fingers, but Holger Zachrisson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 77 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Felix Montenegro. Portuguesa made a substitution. Giovani Cavalcante replaced Silvério Bittencourt. Felix Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 79th minute of the match. Holger Zachrisson scored 1-1 in the 86th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Portuguesa's Miguel de Sena was substituted for Holger Zachrisson. Miguel de Sena's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miguel de Sena helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Portuguesa's Miguel de Sena got a free kick in the 93rd minute. Jorginho Vaz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 94th minute. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Miguel de Sena, who was totally free with the ball in the 98th minute.
