Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Cacá Braga started the match with the kick off. If Agustín Saelices had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 5th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Iwan Wojtyna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 7th minute of play. Iwan Wojtyna made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 10th minute of play. 11 minutes into the match, RED-STAR's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Iwan Wojtyna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iwan Wojtyna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Iwan Wojtyna having to interfere. 22 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cacá Braga. In the 29th minute Cristian Sancho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iwan Wojtyna saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 30th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. RED-STAR's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. 32 minutes had been played when some careless play by RED-STAR's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. It was a well-played corner which Felix Montes managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. In the 36th minute, Daniel Zorita left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cipriano do Vale in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the match, RED-STAR's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Iwan Wojtyna reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Iwan Wojtyna took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dagoberto Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Iwan Wojtyna. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Daniel Zorita stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 52ndth minute got Iwan Wojtyna to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Dagoberto Linhares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 64 minutes RED-STAR's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. After recieving a nice pass, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita tried to score from far away in the 68th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cipriano do Vale in the 71st minute of play. RED-STAR's Iwan Wojtyna proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 74th minute of the match, managed to save RED-STAR from getting a goal against them. 75 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iwan Wojtyna narrowly saved just below the crossbar. If Luis Andino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The supporters of Ecuador booed when RED-STAR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jairo Faria didn't get a good kick on the ball. 88 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Iwan Wojtyna narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 89 minutes had been played when some careless play by RED-STAR's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. In the 96th match minute, RED-STAR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Igor Firme to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
