Mattias Olofsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Ecuador's defense didn't have a chance, in the 11th minute, when Torbjörn Brummer scored to the left of an out of position Julio Vera, making the score, 1-0. Torbjörn Brummer was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 14th minute. StraX Xenon FC's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Mattias Olofsson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 17th minute, Agustín Saelices left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, StraX Xenon FC's Hugo Gernberg got a free kick in the 22nd minute. 23 minutes into the match, StraX Xenon FC's goal looked a bit too open when Felix Montenegro came free, but Mattias Olofsson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 25th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. Mattias Olofsson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 27th minute of the match. After 30 minutes, Antonio Arias mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the StraX Xenon FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. StraX Xenon FC's Joacim Andersson was substituted for Torbjörn Brummer. In the 30th minute, one of Ecuador:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Ecuador. Daniel Zorita fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 36th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mattias Olofsson having to interfere. After 40 minutes of play, StraX Xenon FC's Joacim Andersson made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! With 43 minutes on the clock, Antonio Arias commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 42nd minute of the game. One of Ecuador:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of StraX Xenon FC:s goal.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jonas Hellqvist stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Tomas Asserlindh took the ball and in the 55 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. In the 58th minute Joacim Andersson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Joacim Andersson came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Asserlindh, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Mattias Olofsson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. In the 82nd match minute, StraX Xenon FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rikard Arhenius to maneuver through the defense. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Felix Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mattias Olofsson breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jonas Hellqvist in the 88th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Asserlindh, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Jonas Hellqvist recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 96th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.
