The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. But to his dismay, Felix Montenegro quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Konstantinas Malevičius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luis Andino in the 17th minute of play. In the 18th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Konstantinas Malevičius quite easily take care of the ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Arminas Ambrazas in the 19th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. After 23 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. In the 23rd minute of the match Arminas Ambrazas sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera skillfully saved the ball. Konstantinas Malevičius took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 48th minute the ball was on its way in behind Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Aldas Alvinskas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aldas Alvinskas in the 53rd minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Cristian Sancho's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Konstantinas Malevičius was relentless in the 83rd minute of the game. Konstantinas Malevičius made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jonas Mikuckis in the 89th minute of play. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
