Venezuela's Tomas Illescas got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Carmine Cavanna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 58th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Laykers's Cosimo Bussi was substituted for Domenico Di Girolamo. Ermanno Lalli fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Tomas Illescas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 70th minute. Demetrio Greco tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Demetrio Greco having to interfere. Ermanno Lalli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermanno Lalli in the 79th minute of play forced Venezuela's goalkeeper Jonathan Ferrant to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 80th minute, Alex Chicote hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Laykers fans cheered their team off the field, for while Venezuela had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
