Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cornelio Omero, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Gisbert in the 8th minute of play forced EBK's goalkeeper Marcelo Quexada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 10 minutes into the game, Eusko Zubicoeta was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. EBK's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Uruguay the free kick. Uruguay's Lucho Andrade was substituted for Bruno Beldad. After a rather tough play, EBK's Eusko Zubicoeta got a free kick in the 11th minute. Francisco Seco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 18th match minute, EBK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Lisandro Martínez de Aldunate to maneuver through the defense. A hard shot 24 in the game by Cornelio Omero from a close distance when the talented Joaquin Gayoso managed to make a qualified save. Uruguay's players were relieved. Cornelio Omero in the 25thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Joaquin Gayoso, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 28thth minute, when EBK's Cornelio Omero fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Maximiliano Escribano charged in rather forcefully in the 29th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Maximiliano Escribano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. EBK's Marcelo Quexada played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 32nd minute of play. Uruguay's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Jaime Cazalla in the 34th minute. A nice corner shot did that Arturo Carvallo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Marcelo Quexada quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 43rd minute, Albino Mirande hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. An unexpectedly hard shot by Maximiliano Escribano in the 46th minute of play forced EBK's goalkeeper Marcelo Quexada to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marcelo Quexada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 48th minute of play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cornelio Omero stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Francisco Seco in the 51stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Marcelo Quexada, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Marcelo Quexada made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jaime Cazalla in the 56th minute of play. In the 57th match minute, EBK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eusko Zubicoeta to maneuver through the defense. Francisco Seco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Marcelo Quexada made a huge save. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cornelio Omero in the 59th minute of play. Francisco Seco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 61st minute. Marcelo Quexada tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Marcelo Quexada made a fantastic save in the 63rd minute, when Francisco Seco sent off a good shot on target. In the 72nd match minute, EBK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Albino Mirande to maneuver through the defense. 74 minutes into the match, Uruguay's Francisco Seco sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Marcelo Quexada narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cornelio Omero in the 76th minute of play. Francisco Seco who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 79thth minute tested the skills of Marcelo Quexada when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 81st minute, Flavio Colon managed to get in a good position for a shot. EBK's supporters rose to their feet, but Flavio Colon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquin Gayoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jorge Sainz hit a great freekick 85 minutes into the match. Marcelo Quexada made a fantastic save in the 87th minute, when Francisco Seco sent off a good shot on target. Francisco Seco was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 92nd minute. Uruguay's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cornelio Omero in the 94th minute of play.
