If Cristian Sancho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 3rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cristian Sancho blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Dino Zoff having to make a save. After some careless play in the Cormoranii -MM- defense, Felix Montenegro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dino Zoff. The Cormoranii -MM- fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dino Zoff should have stopped the shot. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eugen Boldur got free with Julio Vera in the 12th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 14 minutes into the match, Cormoranii -MM-'s goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Dino Zoff reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Dino Zoff. Dino Zoff dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. The supporters of Cormoranii -MM- booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Agustín Saelices didn't get a good kick on the ball. Apolo Foro hit a great freekick 20 minutes into the match. Cormoranii -MM-'s Dino Zoff played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ramiro Paul in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. After 23 played minutes Ramiro Paul could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 1-2 into the left cross. After 27 minutes of play, Cormoranii -MM-'s Eugen Boldur made it 2-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Luis Andino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 31st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 34th minute of the match, Eugen Boldur got a very nice opportunity to score, but Julio Vera was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Cormoranii -MM- were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Ecuador's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Marcel Vulpe took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Marcel Vulpe got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Eugen Boldur scored 3-2 in the 39th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The audience was convinced that Ramiro Paul's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Julio Vera was relentless in the 42nd minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 42 minutes, Ramiro Paul took a quick shot and it went in 4-2 without a chance for Julio Vera to make any attempt to save it. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Agustín Saelices got a free kick in the 48th minute. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 4-2 at half-time.

In the 53rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cormoranii -MM-'s goalkeeper Dino Zoff, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ramiro Paul in the 56th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cornel Panaitescu received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 57th minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dino Zoff made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Apolo Foro hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Cormoranii -MM-'s Dino Zoff got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 69th match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Daniel Zorita to maneuver through the defense. In the 73rd minute Eugen Boldur shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Ramiro Paul's shot from short distance in the 77th minute. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 78th minute of the match, but Dino Zoff made a huge save. When Cormoranii -MM-'s Ramiro Paul in the 80th minute got a chance for a shot 80th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Ramiro Paul went, in the 84th minute, to the upper right corner, 5-2 was the resulting score. In the 90th minute Cornel Panaitescu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 95th minute, Cristian Sancho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dino Zoff was frozen by the shot and now it was 5-3. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Cormoranii -MM- fans cheered their team off the field, for while Ecuador had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
