The supporters of New York Red Bulls booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 11 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alex Chicote didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 17th minute, when Marian Balint sent off a good shot on target. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 19 minutes play. Camilo Gaos hit a great ball. In the 21st minute, Patricio Costa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 22nd minute of the match, Marian Balint got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jonathan Ferrant was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Eduardo Pereyra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 24th minute. Dario Cinalli hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 26th minute Berkan Temel shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 29th minute, New York Red Bulls's Berkan Temel ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 32nd minute, Jose Correa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marian Balint got a fine position in front of goal ttaking advantage of the opportunity to rumble in 2-0 in the right cross in the 34th match minute before Jonathan Ferrant had time to react. New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 38th minute of play. Basarab Panduru's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jonathan Ferrant firmly grabbed it by the left post. After having played for 48 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After 53 minutes of play, New York Red Bulls's Marian Balint made it 3-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 58th minute, Berkan Temel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eduardo Pereyra having to interfere. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 69 minutes play. Camilo Gaos hit a great ball. In the 74th minute Basarab Panduru shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 76 minutes, Marian Balint managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. New York Red Bulls's supporters crossed their fingers, but Marian Balint was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Marian Balint had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 78th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a rather tough play, New York Red Bulls's Doru Coman got a free kick in the 92nd minute. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Eduardo Pereyra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Basarab Panduru's shot from short distance in the 97th minute. New York Red Bulls's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
