Daniel Zorita scored 0-1 in the 3rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eduardo Pereyra, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 7th minute of play forced New York Red Bulls's goalkeeper Eduardo Pereyra to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Marian Balint who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 13thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 14th minute Luis Andino shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Pereyra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 18 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Eduardo Pereyra made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Felix Montenegro's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Eduardo Pereyra read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 23rd minute of play. Eduardo Pereyra took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eduardo Pereyra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 28th minute of play. Eduardo Pereyra stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 30th minute. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 35th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. A hard shot 37 in the game by Basarab Panduru from a close distance when the talented Julio Vera managed to make a qualified save. Ecuador's players were relieved. Marian Balints short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Julio Vera to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Eduardo Pereyra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 48th minute of play.

Berkan Temel sent away a hard shot on goal in the 54th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Berkan Temel in the 54th minute of the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Piers Amos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Marian Balint's shot from short distance in the 66th minute. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Eduardo Pereyra made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Doru Coman in the 82nd minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 83 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Basarab Panduru came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felix Montes hit a great freekick 88 minutes into the match. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Eduardo Pereyra tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
