Benito Sanz came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Wyoming Cowboys's Lanny Lilly. But to his dismay, Lanny Lilly quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Lanny Lilly's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Benito Sanz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 7th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Lautaro Puig during the 8th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Benito Sanz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edwin McNamara in the 13th minute of the match. Costa Rica's defense didn't have a chance, in the 17th minute, when Rodney Huston scored to the left of an out of position Benito Sanz, making the score, 2-0. Costa Rica's Benito Sanz proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 21st minute of the match, managed to save Costa Rica from getting a goal against them. Lanny Lilly might have been able to make a better finish in the 26th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Benito Sanz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lanny Lilly ran back to his position shaking his head. When the match had gone on for 28 minutes, Rodney Huston took a quick shot and it went in 3-0 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Eliseo Noboa during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. When Edwin McNamara came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Wyoming Cowboys fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edwin McNamara couldn't finish the play. 37 minutes into the game, Edwin McNamara cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lanny Lilly succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 5-0 in the 42nd playminute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Lanny Lilly got free with Benito Sanz in the 48th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Edwin McNamara stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Wyoming Cowboys's Nils McNamara got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Leif Jespersson hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Lanny Lilly fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Lanny Lilly ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. Hugo Ferrant hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. The supporters of Wyoming Cowboys booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 67 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edwin McNamara took the ball and in the 76 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 7-0. 79 minutes into the match, Verner Myr had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Verner Myr was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 8-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Mats McNamara in the 82nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 86th minute, Verner Myr ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Benito Sanz was frozen by the shot and now it was 9-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edwin McNamara in the 92nd minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wyoming Cowboys's Edwin McNamara suffered a concussion in the 93rd minute, after a hard challenge, and had to leave the field. Hugo Ferrant charged in rather forcefully in the 94th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Hugo Ferrant the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 93rd minute, one of Costa Rica:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Costa Rica. Ivar Eklund fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 98th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Benito Sanz having to interfere.
