Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ståle Stolpe in the 40th minute of play. Axel Gudmundsson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. Jan-Erik Skoog could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 43rd minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Axel Gudmundsson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
