Northern Lights's Başaran Ötüken played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 5th minute of play. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Başaran Ötüken tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a long run with the ball, Özgün Serbülend did a trick in the 16th minute in front of Ecuador's goalkeeper, who threw himself to the side. After that it was simple to shoot 1-0. An impressive performance by Northern Lights's Özgün Serbülend! Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Northern Lights's Nejat Alp Talayhan got a good chance for a goal in the 32nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Başaran Ötüken showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. 39 minutes had been played when some careless play by Northern Lights's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner first didn't look so dangerous but when Felix Montenegro got the ball he succeeded in some way to get through the defenders to deliver a very hard score. Result 1-1. 39 minutes into the match. Agustín Saelices's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Başaran Ötüken read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cristian Sancho to make the kick off. Başaran Ötüken came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Felix Montenegro came free with the goalkeeper in the 56th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Başaran Ötüken could save by the left post. 59 minutes into the match, Cristian Sancho notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Northern Lights's Başaran Ötüken. Başaran Ötüken was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cristian Sancho got free with Başaran Ötüken in the 70th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Başaran Ötüken took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Andino, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 72nd minute to try and stop a shot by Northern Lights's Nejat Alp Talayhan. But to his dismay, Nejat Alp Talayhan quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-4. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Northern Lights was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 80 match minutes in a wonderful position. Necat Duha didn't get a good kick on the ball. 80 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 84 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Başaran Ötüken narrowly saved just below the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sezen Hidayet in the 89th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cristian Sancho's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Başaran Ötüken read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
