In the 40th minute the ball was on its way in behind ŞAHŞEHRİYAR FK's goalkeeper Taha Günden, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Patrick Carneiro who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 41stth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Julio Vera was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Taha Günden didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. In the 91st minute Eddy Rüegsegger shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 91 played minutes ŞAHŞEHRİYAR FK got a freekick which was hit by Ziya Aydın. Taha Günden came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
