Marcos Cotilla came out and tried to block the shot, but Aatos Koivisto slotted it home off the left post making it 3-1 in the 30th minute. With a little luck, Panama's Marcos Cotilla got control of the ball when Aatos Koivisto tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Panama booed when Manchester United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ferhat Gürçınar didn't get a good kick on the ball. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Aatos Koivisto to make the kick off. Marcos Cotilla showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lu Cheng Di, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. When the referee ended the match the Manchester United players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
