The referee ignored Venezuela's protests and gave Tomas Illescas a yellow card for diving instead. After 27 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Tomas Illescas. 28 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Börge Karlsson came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 31st minute Börge Karlsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Bo Rosen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 33rd minute of the match. Venezuela's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Blue Mountain Goats the free kick. The supporters of Blue Mountain Goats booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Camilo Gaos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jonathan Ferrant took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vincent Blom, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 57th minute of the game Gunnar Björkqvist made a throw-in which Vincent Blom played forward.
