The supporters of Lyons booed when USA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Edward Mcdonald didn't get a good kick on the ball. Marco Day was a little too slow when Boleslaw Zielinski got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 1-0. If Cassius Byrne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Boleslaw Zielinski got free with Marco Day in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lyons's Luisito Quinten played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Monty Rogers in the 39th minute of play. In the 40th minute of the match USA got a corner. Lyons's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Cassius Byrne ran over to the corner to take the kick. A throw-in in the 46th minute of the game was made by Raphael Moore with Cassius Byrne as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Boleslaw Zielinski made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, USA's Edward Mcdonald dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. Jenson Smith was slow to take the kick. During this time USA's players had a chance to rest. Luisito Quinten was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Lyons's Luisito Quinten proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save Lyons from getting a goal against them. When the final whistle sounded USA left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Lyons.
