Costel Gurgui breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Eliseo Noboa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 14 minutes into the game, Efrain Moruga threw the ball into play from the sideline. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Dacian Ghițescu quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Sorin Nicorici could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. Eliseo Noboa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Costel Gurgui having to make a save. Efrain Moruga charged in rather forcefully in the 22nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Efrain Moruga the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 22 minutes play. Efrain Moruga hit a great ball. The throw-in from Eliseo Noboa in the 25th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Sorin Nicorici. Hugo Ferrant got a throw-in 26 minutes in the game and the ball was received by Lautaro Puig. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Calistrat Şerbănescu quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Efrain Moruga, made in the 28th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 30 minutes, Golo Phoenix took a quick shot and it went in 1-0 without a chance for Benito Sanz to make any attempt to save it. In the 48th minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Costel Gurgui saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Sorin Nicorici was the one to do the kick off. Sorin Nicorici recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 54th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Axel Tasis in the 57th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Costel Gurgui saved PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca from getting behind. In the 58th minute of the match, Eliseo Noboa tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Costel Gurgui saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 60 minutes into the match, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Costel Gurgui reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Strong Phoenix was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 62 minutes had been played. After a rather tough play, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Strong Phoenix got a free kick in the 63rd minute. When Eliseo Noboa came up free with the goalie in the 64th minute, the Costa Rica fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Eliseo Noboa couldn't finish the play. Axel Tasis struck a weak shot in the 70th minute. Costel Gurgui didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Costa Rica. Abel Carballo made in the 73rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Calistrat Şerbănescu. 79 minutes into the match, PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's goal looked a bit too open when Axel Tasis came free, but Costel Gurgui reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca's Sorin Nicorici quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Eliseo Noboa, made in the 85th minute of the game. In the 90th minute, Lucian Şimonca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa got a free kick in the 94th minute. For all the effort they put into the match, the Costa Rica players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for PHOENIX Cluj-Napoca.
