The Ecuador fans' excitement grew in the 24th match minute when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 1-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Jaap van der Schans showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Westenenk was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gervasio Lauaxeta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Japke Sturm hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Westenenk's Jaap van der Schans played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. After 50 played minutes Westenenk got a freekick which was hit by Gervasio Lauaxeta. 51 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Jaap van der Schans. Cristian Sancho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-3. 56 minutes into the match, Westenenk's goalkeeper Jaap van der Schans had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. Jaap van der Schans was a little too slow when Daniel Zorita got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 58th minute. The score was now 1-4. Daniel Zorita might have been able to make a better finish in the 60th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jaap van der Schans. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Daniel Zorita ran back to his position shaking his head. 60 minutes into the match, Westenenk's goal looked a bit too open when Daniel Zorita came free, but Jaap van der Schans reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 62 minutes of play, Westenenk's Wieslaw Posadzki made it 2-4 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Wieslaw Posadzki in the 67th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 70th minute Valio Tammisto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Camilo Gisbert made in the 78th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Cristian Sancho however managed to control. Jaap van der Schans didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Ecuador's Cristian Sancho shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-5 in the ordered_time% minute. In the 95th minute, Daniel Zorita reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Jaap van der Schans. The goal made the score 2-6. Ecuador's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
