Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Tomas Illescas got the match started through his kick off. Montevideo's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. After a rather tough play, Montevideo's Zeca de Alcântara got a free kick in the 26th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ronaldo Medeiros breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Olavo Matorin received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Olavo Matorin came up free with the goalie in the 35th minute, the Montevideo fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Olavo Matorin couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Montevideo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zeca de Alcântara didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Venezuela's Tomas Illescas tried to score from far away in the 38th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 42 minutes into the match, Bray McJon dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Jonathan Ferrant, 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Olavo Matorin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jonathan Ferrant having to make a save. In the 57th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Bogdan Blănaru to maneuver through the defense. Rigoberto Mina hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. After 61 played minutes Montevideo got a freekick which was hit by Bogdan Blănaru. After a defensive mix-up in Montevideo's zone, Patricio Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ronaldo Medeiros came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Passos in the 64th minute of the match. 66 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Luisito Antequera came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bray McJon in the 67th minute of play. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 95 minutes into the game, Montevideo's Bray McJon nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0.
