The audience was convinced that Daniel Zorita's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Detlev Leisibach was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 21th minute after Hammarby Hornets BK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ola Larsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.
