An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 10th minute of play forced ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goalkeeper Branislav Velchevski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 15 minutes, Timoteo Basualdo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Timoteo Basualdo got a free kick in the 15th minute. 17 minutes into the match, ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Branislav Velchevski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 18th minute after ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Zacarias Osorio received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Julio Vera came out and tried to block the shot, but Zacarias Osorio slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 20th minute. Zacarias Osorio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 27th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 31st minute, Genaro Mercurio hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Branislav Velchevski came out of the goal in the 32nd minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Daniel Zorita. But to his dismay, Daniel Zorita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 38th minute of play. The corner ended in Luis Andino almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but ESTUDIANTES de la PLATA's Branislav Velchevski did a great save. Elpidio Francis in the 41stth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 44th minute Elpidio Francis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Antonio Arias got a free kick in the 46th minute. Zacarias Osorio who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 47thth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zacarias Osorio in the 51st minute of play. Branislav Velchevski showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 55th minute of the match. Gabriel Erramun's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Gabriel Erramun helped the player get up and apologised. Branislav Velchevski made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 58th minute. Arnaldo Gabon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Elpidio Francis during the 64th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Elpidio Francis hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. 66 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Elpidio Francis came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Felix Montenegro came free with the goalkeeper in the 75th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Branislav Velchevski could save by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in Ecuador's zone, Elpidio Francis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Julio Vera came out of the goal and Elpidio Francis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 81st minute of the match. In the 81st minute, Elpidio Francis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 92 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Branislav Velchevski was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
