A nice corner shot did that Tomas Illescas got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wiliam Prado quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silvério Fernandez, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Wiliam Prado made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 21st minute of play. Genílson Leme's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Jonathan Ferrant firmly grabbed it by the left post. Athletis PR were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Silvério Fernandez took the corner. When Caio Raminhos fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Athletis PR's protests and gave Caio Raminhos a yellow card for diving instead. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Wiliam Prado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 34th minute. Wiliam Prado came out of the goal and Patricio Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anísio Valladares kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match.

Silvério Fernandez fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal in the 57th minute to try and stop a shot by Athletis PR's Silvério Fernandez. But to his dismay, Silvério Fernandez quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-0. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Genílson Leme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Genílson Leme tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 62nd minute, Silvério Fernandez ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-0. 66 minutes into the match, Athletis PR's Genílson Leme sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silvério Fernandez in the 67th minute of play. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Athletis PR was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Anísio Valladares didn't get a good kick on the ball. Athletis PR's Luís Gustavo de Mendonça was substituted for Marco de Moraes. Athletis PR made a substitution. Breno Marquez replaced Nafarroa Hormeño. In the 78th match minute, Athletis PR was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ciro Vargas to maneuver through the defense.
