The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Telmo Silva's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Telmo Silva helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Esporte Clube Pilar's Telmo Silva got a free kick in the 9th minute. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Esporte Clube Pilar's goalkeeper Roch Orszak, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 16th minute Esporte Clube Pilar were awarded a corner. Bautista Quintero went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Bautista Quintero got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jonathan Ferrant quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 1-0 became the score in the 19th minute when Yan Zonta elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. In the 25th minute, Patricio Costa left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Venezuela fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. 29 minutes into the match, Bautista Quintero had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. Venezuela's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bautista Quintero was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. After some fancy dribbling in the 35th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Roch Orszak breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Esporte Clube Pilar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Virgílio Britto didn't get a good kick on the ball. Claudinho Ramalho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jonathan Ferrant having to interfere. Bautista Quintero sent away a hard shot on goal in the 40th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Esporte Clube Pilar's Bautista Quintero got a good chance for a goal in the 46th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. Tomas Illescas could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 51st minute of the match, but Roch Orszak made a huge save. The supporters of Esporte Clube Pilar booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Patricio Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. Esporte Clube Pilar's Roch Orszak played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 58th minute of play. Ulises Urtats struck a weak shot in the 59th minute. Jonathan Ferrant didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Esporte Clube Pilar. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomas Illescas in the 72nd minute. With a little luck, Esporte Clube Pilar's Roch Orszak got control of the ball when Tomas Illescas tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the referee ended the match the Esporte Clube Pilar players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
