Mexico's Joel Gaona got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Roger Flor in the 14th minute of play. David Ferran made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 24th minute of play. David Ferran showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Mancebo, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. When Alberto Tafalla came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Tafalla couldn't finish the play. When Felix Luque fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mexico's protests and gave Felix Luque a yellow card for diving instead. In the 45th minute Gao Yong Zhen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the PicksBattle.com defense, Facundo Cadaval kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of David Ferran. The PicksBattle.com fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that David Ferran should have stopped the shot.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Joel Gaona to make the kick off. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without David Ferran having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 64th minute of play forced PicksBattle.com's goalkeeper David Ferran to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 74 minutes into the game, Mexico's Luca Zorita nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. David Ferran made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-4. If Enrique Mouricio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. Lautaro Mancebo struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. David Ferran didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. After a rather tough play, PicksBattle.com's Ivan Solo got a free kick in the 94th minute. Joel Gaona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but David Ferran read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Mexico walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
