A beautiful save bye Ecuador's goalie prevented a goal. Jaime Cortez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Agustín Saelices, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Gaita´s club's Delmiro Xabel got a free kick in the 13th minute. The supporters of Gaita´s club booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Felix Montes didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Freddy Solustiano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gaita´s club's supporters rose to their feet, but Freddy Solustiano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Agustín Saelices might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jaime Cortez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Agustín Saelices ran back to his position shaking his head. Primitivo Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 27th minute of the match. Jaime Cortez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. Gaita´s club's Jaime Cortez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 33rd minute of play. Osvaldo Asteri in the 38thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Julio Vera, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. In the 41st minute Agustín Saelices shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jaime Cortez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 44 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Luis Andino. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Adrian Farias during the 46th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 46th minute, Adrian Farias hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Jaime Cortez quite easily take care of the ball. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. Jaime Cortez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 53rd minute. Agustín Saelices fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jaime Cortez having to interfere. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 58th minute, Freddy Solustiano managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gaita´s club's supporters rose to their feet, but Freddy Solustiano was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jaime Cortez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cristian Sancho in the 63rd minute. In the 65th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jaime Cortez was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 66th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Gaita´s club's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Osvaldo Asteri in the 71st minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Osvaldo Asteri fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Daniel Zoritas short, quick shot in the 74thth minute got Jaime Cortez to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. When Delmiro Xabel came up free with the goalie in the 79th minute, the Gaita´s club fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Delmiro Xabel couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Gaita´s club's Jaime Cortez got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 82nd match minute, Gaita´s club was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cosme Tono to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Zorita could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 82nd minute of the match, but Jaime Cortez made a huge save. 86 minutes into the match, Gaita´s club's goalkeeper Jaime Cortez had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daniel Zorita. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kurtuluş Tuğcu in the 89th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Gaita´s club's Marcial Argenis was substituted for Kurtuluş Tuğcu. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 94th minute. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
