The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. The supporters of Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- booed when KANONIERZY was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 2 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ivo Chaves didn't get a good kick on the ball. Christian Abbiati showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Primitivo Grau in the 3rd minute of the match. KANONIERZY's Christian Abbiati proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 5th minute of the match, managed to save KANONIERZY from getting a goal against them. The audience was convinced that Primitivo Grau's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Christian Abbiati was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. 12 minutes into the match, KANONIERZY's goalkeeper Christian Abbiati had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Primitivo Grau. Christian Abbiati was out of position in the 17 minute of play, and Zhao Sen Yang capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Zhao Sen Yang really showed his touch with that goal: 1-0. If Ali Hamza Hanefi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s attentive Petre Iftode managed to snatch the ball when Julian Zgonina made a throw-in in the 24th minute of the game. Christian Abbiati stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Zhao Sen Yang's shot from short distance in the 25th minute. KANONIERZY's Ime Mavros got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 31 minutes into the game, Zhao Sen Yang cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-0. Christian Abbiati was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Kürşat Başok recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. KANONIERZY were awarded a corner in the 44th minute after Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Ime Mavros took the corner. The corner led to KANONIERZY's Kürşat Başok getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ali Hamza Hanefi was the one to do the kick off. When İlhami Akyazıcı came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that İlhami Akyazıcı couldn't finish the play. 56 minutes into the game, Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Zhao Sen Yang nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Christian Abbiati made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gösta Söderberg in the 63rd minute of play forced Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s goalkeeper Ivan Chiuzbaian to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. KANONIERZY's Christian Abbiati played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zhao Sen Yang in the 64th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ime Mavros got free with Ivan Chiuzbaian in the 68th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Christian Abbiati showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zhao Sen Yang, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM-'s Petre Iftode got a good chance for a goal in the 76th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zhao Sen Yang in the 80th minute of play forced KANONIERZY's goalkeeper Christian Abbiati to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 87 minutes into the match, Zhao Sen Yang notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of KANONIERZY's Christian Abbiati. Christian Abbiati was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Olov Ahlbeck made in the 94th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by KANONIERZY's Marian Sobania. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Phoenix Baia-Mare -MM- fans cheered their team off the field, for while KANONIERZY had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
