If Joel Gaona had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 10th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 11 minutes into the match, Cochisuma's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tafalla came free, but Ismael Bihar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute Vladimiro Urtsua shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 14th minute of play forced Cochisuma's goalkeeper Ismael Bihar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Joel Gaona came up free with the goalie in the 18th minute, the Mexico fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Joel Gaona couldn't finish the play. In the 22nd minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ismael Bihar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Joel Gaona received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Ismael Bihar tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Cochisuma's Baltasar Fonda got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 28th minute, Mexico's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Saturnino Paez fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Dante Lacasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gilberto Socorro in the 33rd minute of the match. Dante Lacasa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vladimiro Urtsua in the 35th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Facundo Cadaval in the 37th minute of play forced Cochisuma's goalkeeper Ismael Bihar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alberto Tafalla scored 0-1 in the 42nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Ismael Bihar, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 45th minute, Julio Lain reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Dante Lacasa. The goal made the score 1-1. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

A collision led to Cochisuma getting a freekick after 85 minutes play. Gilberto Socorro hit a great ball. Ismael Bihar showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 90th minute of the match. The Cochisuma players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
