Eliseo Noboa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Jonathan Tabby tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Eliseo Noboa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Jonathan Tabby showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 29 minutes into the game, Costa Rica's Axel Tasis nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. The corner ended in Axel Tasis almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Punta Alvear's Jonathan Tabby did a great save. The supporters of Punta Alvear booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. The score was now 0-4. 81 minutes into the game, Juan Rubio threw the ball into play from the sideline. Punta Alvear's Israel Rubio quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Benito Sanz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Adolfo Remigio, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. A sloppy throw-in by Hugo Ferrant in the 95th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Punta Alvear's Israel Rubio. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Costa Rica had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
