Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kjell Jonsson in the 22nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Guillaume Vittiger prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Paolo Bur during the 23rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The audience thought a goal was coming when Ansgar Kalb got free with Stefan Söder in the 35th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Ansgar Kalb received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Stefan Söder came out and tried to block the shot, but Ansgar Kalb slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 35th minute. When Martin Zinsli fell near the penalty area in the 42nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Olympique Fribourg's protests and gave Martin Zinsli a yellow card for diving instead. In the 42nd match minute, Olympique Fribourg was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Zinsli to maneuver through the defense. Morgan Vollander might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Guillaume Vittiger. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Martin Zinsli to make the kick off. In the 53rd minute Ralf Bianco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stefan Söder saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Olympique Fribourg booed when Westra Aros SK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Axel Linberg didn't get a good kick on the ball. Kjell Jonsson kicked well hit freekick during the 59th minute of the match. Ansgar Kalb struck a weak shot in the 62nd minute. Stefan Söder didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Olympique Fribourg. Westra Aros SK's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rune Källberg was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 87th minute, Ansgar Kalb hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. When Leif Lindström fell near the penalty area in the 91st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Westra Aros SK's protests and gave Leif Lindström a yellow card for diving instead. Jeers came from both ends of the stadium when the final whistle went. Neither team had looked impressive and the draw seeemd a fair result.
