An unexpectedly hard shot by Cihangir Türkol in the 3rd minute of play forced GAIS's goalkeeper Wlodzimierz Cipinski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Levan Dost had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 9th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Wlodzimierz Cipinski showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Levan Dost, who was totally free with the ball in the 9th minute. Farid Mondragon made a fantastic save in the 10th minute, when Rudolf Nordstedt sent off a good shot on target. Levan Dost's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wlodzimierz Cipinski read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 11th minute of play. Max Godet made in the 13th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Konrad Josefsson. Wlodzimierz Cipinski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Levan Dost, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Levan Dost sent away a hard shot on goal in the 16th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Levan Dost fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wlodzimierz Cipinski having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in GAIS's zone, Levan Dost stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wlodzimierz Cipinski came out of the goal and Levan Dost tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Levan Dost in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wlodzimierz Cipinski prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Levan Dost in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Wlodzimierz Cipinski saved GAIS from getting behind. Levan Dost blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wlodzimierz Cipinski having to make a save. After having played for 45 minutes, Deng Le Jian managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. GAIS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Deng Le Jian was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Wlodzimierz Cipinski stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Levan Dost's shot from short distance in the 47th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
If Leonides Xacintu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 80thth minute of the game Leonides Xacintu who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but GAIS's Wlodzimierz Cipinski was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The GAIS supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching 1stanbuL FootbaLL CluB's performance.
