The supporters of Galapagos Islands FC booed when Ecuador was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 17 match minutes in a wonderful position. Juan Sebastián Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball. Niklas Möller took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 17th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Julio Vera. Ecuador's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. In the 20th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Anthon Karlsson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 24th minute after Galapagos Islands FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Felix Montes made a great header on Ecuador's corner, it was just that Galapagos Islands FC's Anthon Karlsson managed to reach the ball for a save. After 26 minutes, Feliks Domaracki mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Galapagos Islands FC and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 25th minute, one of Galapagos Islands FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Galapagos Islands FC. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Özgün Hatip in the 32nd minute of play. In the 33rd match minute, Ecuador was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Primitivo Andino to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Özgün Hatip got free with Julio Vera in the 36th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 37 minutes of play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Anthon Karlsson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Galapagos Islands FC's Boris Marsac got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 43 minutes into the match, Galapagos Islands FC's Özgün Hatip sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 44 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Niklas Möller who took care of the corner kick. In the 45th minute, Luis Andino hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Radomil Mroczynski was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Özgün Hatip, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Ecuador's Daniel Zorita slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Anthon Karlsson. That made the score 0-3 after 52 minutes of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Özgün Hatip in the 57th minute of the match. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Radomil Mroczynski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 62 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Anthon Karlsson narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Radomil Mroczynski, who was totally free with the ball in the 63rd minute. Boris Marsac's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Boris Marsac helped the player get up and apologised. In the 69th match minute, Galapagos Islands FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Boris Marsac to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Radomil Mroczynski in the 72nd minute of play. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 73rd minute. Anthon Karlsson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. After a rather tough play, Galapagos Islands FC's Boris Marsac got a free kick in the 78th minute. 80 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Özgün Hatip came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Agustín Saelices who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 83rdth minute tested the skills of Anthon Karlsson when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 84th minute Ecuador were awarded a corner. Daniel Zorita went to the cornerflag to take it. A well-hit corner resulted in Felix Montes heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 87 minutes in the game, Luis Andino fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Anthon Karlsson having to interfere. After some careless play in the Ecuador defense, Sigvart Biegel kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Julio Vera. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Daniel Zorita received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Anthon Karlsson tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
