Romulo Frederik made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute of play. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nilson Brasil in the 19th minute. Romulo Frederik showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Zorita in the 21st minute of the match. Julio Vera was a little too slow when Nilson Brasil got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 24th minute. The score was now 1-0. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 28th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 32 minutes Ecuador's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Virgílio Peres who took care of the corner kick. After a rather tough play, Sporting Clube d Portugal's Donato Correia got a free kick in the 35th minute. Romulo Frederik made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 39th minute of play. If Leon Norino had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Sporting Clube d Portugal getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Donato Correia hit a great ball.

Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilson Brasil in the 74th minute of play. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Nilson Brasil, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Breno Pereira charged in rather forcefully in the 76th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Sporting Clube d Portugal's defense didn't have a chance, in the 82nd minute, when Cristian Sancho scored to the left of an out of position Romulo Frederik, making the score, 1-1. 87 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Romulo Frederik narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 88 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Romulo Frederik was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Felix Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Romulo Frederik having to interfere. The Sporting Clube d Portugal fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
