Jonathan Ferrant stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Crispin Stichler's shot from short distance in the 5th minute. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Patricio Costa got a free kick in the 7th minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julio Cristofol in the 8th minute of the match. When Sergio Sasoin came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the C.A.RIVER PLATE fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Sergio Sasoin couldn't finish the play. In the 23rd minute Tomas Illescas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabrizio Masci saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Crispin Stichler in the 25th minute of play. 26 minutes into the match, Tomas Illescas notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of C.A.RIVER PLATE's Fabrizio Masci. Fabrizio Masci was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Patricio Costa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Fabrizio Masci having to make a save. Tomas Illescas sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Crispin Stichler, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Julio Cristofol in the 37th minute of the match. C.A.RIVER PLATE were awarded a corner in the 38th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aristides Emesto took the corner. C.A.RIVER PLATE's Aristides Emesto was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Jonathan Ferrant in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 42nd minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Fabrizio Masci breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julio Cristofol in the 44th minute of play. With a little luck, Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant got control of the ball when Crispin Stichler tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Tomas Illescas made a kick off. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julio Cristofol in the 53rd minute of play. 55 minutes into the game, C.A.RIVER PLATE's Crispin Stichler nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. When Higinio Rayman fell near the penalty area in the 58th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A.RIVER PLATE's protests and gave Higinio Rayman a yellow card for diving instead. In the 58th minute, Higinio Rayman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Fabrizio Masci prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 66thth minute of the game Tomas Illescas who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but C.A.RIVER PLATE's Fabrizio Masci was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Sergio Sasoin came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 70th minute of the match C.A.RIVER PLATE got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Aristides Emesto ran over to the corner to take the kick. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Crispin Stichler in the 80th minute of the match. In the 81stth minute of the game Crispin Stichler who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Tomas Illescas recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 86th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. C.A.RIVER PLATE's Fabrizio Masci played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 87th minute of play. C.A.RIVER PLATE were awarded a corner in the 93th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Aristides Emesto took the corner. It was a well-played corner which Sergio Sasoin managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 96th minute of the match. C.A.RIVER PLATE's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
