An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Illescas in the 13th minute of play forced the Red Devils's goalkeeper Sören Glanselius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jose Correa kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. When Devlet Betim fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored the Red Devils's protests and gave Devlet Betim a yellow card for diving instead. In the 19th minute, Devlet Betim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Furkan Erbay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. In the 20th minute Furkan Erbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 23 minutes, Furkan Erbay made it 1-0 with a short kick to the right side. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. Selahaddin Yeler hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 26th minute of play forced the Red Devils's goalkeeper Sören Glanselius to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Sören Glanselius made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tomas Illescas in the 39th minute of play. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Sören Glanselius tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Furkan Erbay was the one to do the kick off. When Furkan Erbay came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the the Red Devils fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Furkan Erbay couldn't finish the play. Patricio Costa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A sloppy throw-in by Salvador Gisbert in the 61st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by the Red Devils's Hayati Tunçbay. In the 66th minute Furkan Erbay shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 70th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alex Chicote to maneuver through the defense. In the 72nd minute, Alex Chicote hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The corner ended in Selahaddin Yeler almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant did a great save. 76 minutes into the match, the Red Devils's Furkan Erbay sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Furkan Erbay scored 3-0 in the 76th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Venezuela's Salvador Gisbert quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Hayati Tunçbay, made in the 79th minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Furkan Erbay in the 96th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jonathan Ferrant saved Venezuela from getting behind. Venezuela's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
