Gheorghe Cuneas short, quick shot in the 44thth minute got Joaquin Gayoso to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Francisco Seco made a kick off. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Gheorghe Cunea put it in 6-0 from a short distance just to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gheorghe Cunea in the 58th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. If Ionuț Drumeș had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Steaua Bucuresti getting a freekick after 63 minutes play. Ferdinand Vasiliu ran over to the corner to take the kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gheorghe Cunea in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Joaquin Gayoso saved Uruguay from getting behind. Gheorghe Cunea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Francisco Seco got a free kick in the 78th minute. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gheorghe Cunea in the 82nd minute of play. Gheorghe Cunea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Steaua Bucuresti was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nae Matei didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Steaua Bucuresti support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
